Questions

Q: Does any of the water in the reservoir become drinking water?

A: Yes! The water is used for irrigation, and irrigation water soaks through the soil and becomes groundwater.

Q: What is an aquifer?

A: The water down in the soil that we pump up to drink is from an aquifer.

Q: How do things get into the aquifer and contaminate the aquifer?

A: If we are not careful, chemicals from lawns, towns, farms, or industry can soak down into the aquifer. We have to manage all these things carefully to keep water clean.
